Statement of Objectives

The VIPMF Action Alliance is an organization formed to bring together groups
representing individuals and communities that are directly affected by the
management and logging practices on “Privately Managed Forest Lands” on
Vancouver Island.

The Objective of the Alliance is to advocate for improved legislation and oversite of:
– Ecosystem Services including ground and surface water quantity and quality and
climate impacts.
– Harvest rates and methods that retain robust ecosystem services.
– Maintenance and enhancement of biodiversity.
– Collaboration between stakeholders including neighboring residences, farms,
businesses and communities.
– Responsible legacy access and recreation.

while respecting the rights, traditions and values of those First Nations impacted.

Strategy Areas

• Advocacy – declaring our support for a policy outcome that achieves the Alliances objectives.
• Education – curating and disseminating information to the public to increase
  awareness and understanding.
• Influence – the political activism needed to sway the minds of decision makers.
• The intent of these strategy areas is to help categorize and focus future working
  groups and will be developed further.
