Landmark Supreme Court decision in Hawaii regarding protection of groundwater

Dear Honourable Ministers of Environment and Health,

COVID-19 will not be stopped without providing safe water to people living in vulnerability. (4). Clean water and air is a human right for us and our progeny to enjoy a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment,

This US Supreme Court decision in Hawaii is a major victory for protecting our vital ground waters. (1,2). Many of our communities are served by wells drilled into local artesian aquifers which are often traversed by various pipelines transporting toxic and hazardous liquids and gases. Will these pipelines required to be made more reliable and dependable or be rerouted to ensurer human safety whenever they cross a vital aquifer?

The science ( 3) used to attack the ground water pollution problem in Hawaii could also be applied in BC and Canada. It could also be used for cleaning up the pollution in the Fraser River watershed and its delta and the Salish Sea.

Who's vigorously protecting our ground water resources in Canada and BC?

Yours for protecting our sacred clean ground waters with zero pollution for our grandchildren.

System Safety Engineer (retired)
