NANAIMO — A boil water advisory involving nearly 1,300 connections in Cedar is into its fifth day.
North Cedar Improvement District administrator Jennifer Bradley said high turbidity levels caused by storms impacted water quality in their well system.
She said it's hoped the advisory, overseen by Island Health, would be cleared by the end of the week.
The advisory was issued on Friday, Jan. 4.
Bradley said Island Health requires clear water samples for two days before the advisory can be lifted.
Bradley told NanaimoNewsNOW word of the boil water advisory was shared in a variety of ways, including on their web and Facebook pages, through local signage and an email notification system.
The NCID provides well water to 1,260 connections west of Hemer Provincial Park in Cedar.
