The Clear Hills Watershed Initiative (CHWI) is a non-profit Society in operation since 2007.
Their Mission is, ?to protect, preserve and improve water quality and quantity throughout the County through education, good practices and water testing.?
They hope the importance of water in everyone?s lives will generate a wave of interest in joining the local group.
To harness that interest, they are holding an October/November membership drive.
The CHWI believes all organizations as well as individuals, young and old, have a role to play in improving the watershed?s health.
They encourage better watershed stewardship practices by all who live, work and play in the area contained within the boundaries of Clear Hills County in northwest Alberta, Canada.
So it?s not just those resident to the County, but beyond as well, who are being encouraged to become members and to get involved.
?We need you to be a part of our ongoing efforts? said their Chairperson, Alison Bjornson.
New members can look forward to taking part in numerous activities throughout the year.
They include spring and fall water testing, educational outreach, general meetings with interesting topics of discussion and an annual community supper with guest speakers.
Individual memberships in the CHWI are only $10 per year.
They are available on request from the organization?s Secretary/Treasurer, Harriet Konrad.
Konrad can be emailed at: hckwatershed,,,outlook.com.
Those interested can also request and pay for memberships by writing the Clear Hills Watershed Initiative. Their mailing address is: P.O. Box 572, Hines Creek, AB T0H 2A0.
