As received from Laurie Gourlay, the interim contact for the Resident's Committee on Water. Mr. Gourlay writes:Hello to all those with an interest in local water matters,
The next two meetings of the
'Resident's Committee on Water' will be hosting government representatives to discuss water and watershed-related concerns in the cross-boundary region bordering the Regional District of Nanaimo and the Cowichan Valley Regional District. A Question & Answer session will follow presentations by the regional and provincial government representatives.
The meetings will be held Tuesday May 17th, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and June 21st at the Cedar Heritage Centre, 1644 MacMillan Road, Cedar. The meetings are open to the public and are free.
I have also attached a Media Release that has just been sent out to encourage interest and attendance and would similarly encourage you to forward this email to others you know who may be interested.
And finally I would draw your attention to some additional information on the Nanaimo River watershed and local water supplies - and invite you to raise your comments/questions at the upcoming meetings (or send to me if you are unable to attend - thx!). We are attempting to get further information about local water and related priorities from the CVRD, but have not yet had replies to our inquiries. Any of you who have additional info are encouraged to forward it, so that we can make it available to everyone.
