The Maryland Senate just voted 35-10 to ban fracking in Maryland! Since the House already passed the bill and Governor Hogan promised to sign it, we're about to ban fracking in Maryland!

The anti-fracking movement in Maryland and across the country made this possible. Maryland will be the first state with gas reserves to pass a legislative ban on fracking AND Governor Hogan is the first Republican governor to call for a fracking ban. This is a major win for clean air, safe drinking water and a liveable climate — and we should all feel incredibly proud.

This victory is a true testament to the power of grassroots organizing and believing that even when the odds are stacked against us, we can do extraordinary things.

Food & Water Watch has been working toward this moment in Maryland for more than five years. We were the first national group to call for a ban on fracking everywhere, and since then we’ve kept that goal squarely in our sights.

It's been a long, hard fight to get to this point, and we couldn't have done it without you. Every petition, phone call, lobbying visit, rally, march and donation against fracking helped us get here.
